The need for biodiversity conservation has been recognized for a long time. An important benchmark was reached with the adoption of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. Yet threats to biodiversity continue to increase dramatically. EcoAfrica recognizes that environmental governance, sustainable development and biodiversity conservation are intertwined. Our biodiversity conservation activities include scientific, economic, policy, feasibility studies. We also assess public and private acceptability of conservation options in terrestrial, aquatic and marine habitats. We work with key stakeholders to address questions related to biodiversity threats, conservation models and management systems. We analyse, develop and disseminate biodiversity conservation programmes and deliverables to the public and private sectors based on scientific evidence, that are aimed at safeguarding biodiversity for present and future generations.
