Development and planning initiatives generally have a space and time component that are necessary to describe proposed actions, their implementation and sometimes the constraints within which development can occur. EcoAfrica adds value to projects through the application of spatially explicit methods in research and sustainable development initiatives. We engage Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing Techniques to detect, analyze, and monitoring changes though time. State of the art GIS software is used by skilled professionals to create information maps that enable decision makers to make informed decisions. EcoAfrica applies GIS techniques in the conservation and development of heritage sites, management plans, the demarcation and design of protected areas, and in rural and urban planning.
Our team works with clients to:
- Translate geospatial concepts into language easily understood by all stakeholders
- Empower communities through participative GIS training
- Develop cultural and environmental layers for development plans
- Contribute to heritage preservation through cultural landscape mapping
- Create and interpret Raster data for topographical modelling and analysis
- Apply GIS to participative land-use planning
- Design and manage GIS data inventories for our own use and that of our clients
