Human activities and associated impacts on land and in freshwater and marine environments require careful intervention, assessment and monitoring to minimise negative impacts. EcoAfrica is well-versed in environmental assessment and has trained government officials and NGOs in over eighteen countries impact assessments with aspects related to social change and capacity building. We engage in projects that can influence the lives of local people that are easily marginalised when development initiatives occur. Furthermore, we teach stakeholders from different sectors of society the process and premise for carrying out environmental impacts assessments. We have done work in many countries in southern and eastern Africa that have empowered local communities in accepting or rejecting planned development activities that occur in their vicinity.
Our work includes;
- Conducting Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)
- Conducting Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs)
- Offering hand-on training courses in Environmental Impact Assessments
- Managing stakeholder participation processes in EIAs and SEAs
